He is With You!

"Grace will be with you." ~Hebrews 13:25 "The God of peace be with you all. Amen." ~Romans 15:33 "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you." ~1 Thessalonians 5:28 Throughout the entire Bible, one of the things that gets repeated a bunch (and I mean a bunch) is that the Lord will be with us. No matter what we go through. He will be there. This is very important to remember and I know that sometimes I forget this simple fact. Life is sometimes stressful and it's hard to focus on the fact that God is with us no matter what. The Carolina's were recently threatened with a hurricane. Hopefully you weren't affected and hopefully you don't have much cleaning to do if you were. But before the actual storm hit, there were a few days that were perfectly fine and you would have never thought that a hurricane was on the horizon. These few days were perfect for a day at the pool, plus most kids were out of school because the news predicted th

Welcome Back to School!!

"Welcome back!" Hopefully that's something every teacher says to you when you come in on your first day. What does it mean to you when they say that? Are you thinking something like: "Yes! It's time to learn!" Or something more like: "Will the bus take me back home now?" Whatever you may be thinking, the teachers are ready to teach you and they have tons of things planned for this new school year. Whether you're the kid that can't wait until last block or the kid who takes 20 pages of notes per class, the teachers are there, ready to teach all of you just the same. This is just like God's relationship with us. No matter what kind of person we are or what we did this past summer, our teacher, God, is ready to forgive us and teach us about Him and His plans for our life. (look up Jeremiah 29:11) We just have to ask Him for his help, as well as let the past go, because He has already forgiven us of the past. He forgives us for our

We Are God's Children- and Students

Since we are all children of the one true God, I thought I would make my first post about learning and specifically, what it feels like when your students finally understand what you are trying to teach them. God is our teacher after all, and I'm sure He loves it when we finally have that 'ah ha' moment. "This is what your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel says: "I am Yaweh, who teaches you for your benefit, who leads you in the way you should go." ~Isaiah 48:17 Earlier this week in Sunday school, we were teaching the children about honesty and how when you aren't honest, it can hurt you and others. The verse we were focusing around was Proverbs 10:9, which says, "Anyone who lives without blame walks safely. But anyone who takes the crooked path will get caught." We had them all repeat this verse together, then seperately but it wasn't until we added a little game of tag to the lesson, that they understood what God was really saying in th
