Welcome!!

Week One in Costa Rica🇨🇷

Image
This week was an amazing first week in Costa Rica!! It is such a beautiful country and it’s astonishing that the Lord has created these unique plants, animals, and nature to worship Him just as he has created us to do!  After our travel day on Sunday, we got right into full emersion! I attend my Spanish grammar and language classes each morning, which have been so fruitful already! My classes are delivered only in Spanish and there's been a lot of information in a short time, but it’s amazing that my mind has been created in a way that allows me to learn another language!   In the afternoons, we have visited San Jose and Cartago, a very busy city and a mountain town with ruins, respectively. Among all the things we got to experience this week, I think my favorite parts were being able to study while watching a futbol game with our host parents, and walking through the markets in San Jose and Cartago.   The sunsets have been absolutely amazing and are such a sweet reminder

Costa Rica Missions!!

Image
Hi friends and family! I hope you are all doing well! Through NGU, I have the wonderful opportunity to travel to Costa Rica in just two days for a Spanish immersion mission trip at the Spanish Language Institute!! We will be there for the month of May learning about the culture and language, as well as loving and serving the people of Costa Rica and sharing Christ with them!! I would love it if you would partner with me in praying over this trip before, during, and after we have gone! As we prepare to fly out on Sunday morning, would you be in prayer that the Lord would watch over us and that everyone on the team would safely arrive in Costa Rica! Throughout the month, my goal is to send out weekly newsletters with specific prayer updates! Until then, pray that the hearts and minds of the people we meet would be opened to the message of Christ!! If you would like to receive these weekly newsletters, click on the follow me button on the left side menu! Thank you so very much for all t

Only One Name

Hi guys! I haven't posted in a while (nor have I been on the site😁). But as I was reading through all of my previous posts, I found that I have a recurring theme that I like to point out. Along with other points, I think my past posts have been mainly stressing the fact that the Lord of Lords and the Kings of Kings is with us. No. Matter. What. And I don't think it was until recently that I truly understood what that meant. And not only what it meant for me, but also what it meant for the world around me. One of my previous posts referenced the 1,000 year flood that hit the Southeast; a flood that encompassed an amazing amount of water! That week wasn't exactly the best, but I think my family and I, and many of the people living around us, were very fortunate in the face of the amount of water. Now, in the time of a global virus, there's almost no one who hasn't been affected (that is unless you live on your own private island lol!) Everything we had on our sp

He is With You!

"Grace will be with you." ~Hebrews 13:25 "The God of peace be with you all. Amen." ~Romans 15:33 "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you." ~1 Thessalonians 5:28 Throughout the entire Bible, one of the things that gets repeated a bunch (and I mean a bunch) is that the Lord will be with us. No matter what we go through. He will be there. This is very important to remember and I know that sometimes I forget this simple fact. Life is sometimes stressful and it's hard to focus on the fact that God is with us no matter what. The Carolina's were recently threatened with a hurricane. Hopefully you weren't affected and hopefully you don't have much cleaning to do if you were. But before the actual storm hit, there were a few days that were perfectly fine and you would have never thought that a hurricane was on the horizon. These few days were perfect for a day at the pool, plus most kids were out of school because the news predicted th

Welcome Back to School!!

"Welcome back!" Hopefully that's something every teacher says to you when you come in on your first day. What does it mean to you when they say that? Are you thinking something like: "Yes! It's time to learn!" Or something more like: "Will the bus take me back home now?" Whatever you may be thinking, the teachers are ready to teach you and they have tons of things planned for this new school year. Whether you're the kid that can't wait until last block or the kid who takes 20 pages of notes per class, the teachers are there, ready to teach all of you just the same. This is just like God's relationship with us. No matter what kind of person we are or what we did this past summer, our teacher, God, is ready to forgive us and teach us about Him and His plans for our life. (look up Jeremiah 29:11) We just have to ask Him for his help, as well as let the past go, because He has already forgiven us of the past. He forgives us for our

We Are God's Children- and Students

Since we are all children of the one true God, I thought I would make my first post about learning and specifically, what it feels like when your students finally understand what you are trying to teach them. God is our teacher after all, and I'm sure He loves it when we finally have that 'ah ha' moment. "This is what your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel says: "I am Yaweh, who teaches you for your benefit, who leads you in the way you should go." ~Isaiah 48:17 Earlier this week in Sunday school, we were teaching the children about honesty and how when you aren't honest, it can hurt you and others. The verse we were focusing around was Proverbs 10:9, which says, "Anyone who lives without blame walks safely. But anyone who takes the crooked path will get caught." We had them all repeat this verse together, then seperately but it wasn't until we added a little game of tag to the lesson, that they understood what God was really saying in th
